Are you new to yoga or hot yoga? Don’t worry! The iY teaching staff is highly qualified and incredibly passionate about what they teach and are always here to answer your questions and address your concerns. There is no judgement, no competition, no mistakes, and no limitations. You can also take advantage of one of our frequent workshops to learn more about body alignment and how to get the most out of your practice.

Why is Heat So Important?

We heat things up to help you open up! iY Hot Yoga classes are held at 103°F. iY Fire Flow, and iY Earth FLow classes are held at 93°F. iY Yin Yoga classes are just slightly warmer than normal room temperature. The heat allows you to move deeper into stretches and open up more fully without running the risk of injury. The heat also adds an amazingly intense detoxifying element to your yoga practice. Your skin is the largest organ in your body and you release a lot of impurities through your pores. So, commit to cleaning yourself up…from the inside out!

What Should I Wear?

Comfort is key. The studio is heated so dress lightly. Try to avoid cotton as it will soak up sweat and become heavy. Sleeveless tops and short leggings in a breathable poly-blend are recommended. Furthermore, the studio is fully equipped with showering facilities. If you wish, bring a change of clothing. We will provide the soap and shampoo and even loan you a towel if you forget your own. Intentional Yoga also sells a variety of Hot Yoga merchandise.

What Should I Bring?

Bring a mat if you have one and a large beach-style towel to cover your mat and keep you from slipping and sliding as we heat it up and sweat it out. We do have mats that you can borrow. For those of you who do not enjoy doing laundry, we rent YogiToes Hot Yoga Towels for $3. Lastly, drink plenty of water in the hours leading up to your practice and bring a water bottle in the room with you. Water and coconut water are available for purchase at the studio. Most importantly, bring your smile and an open mind!

Should I Eat Before Class?

Try not to eat 1-2 hours prior to class. If you feel that you are in need of a little pick-me-up before class, keep it light, go for a piece of fruit. Also, drink plenty of water, it’s best to spread your water intake out over the 12-24 hours before your practice. Try to avoid downing a gallon of water five minutes before class, it tends to make things a little sloshy and slightly uncomfortable.
