What to Expect for Your First Class

Arrive a Few Minutes Early

We recommend coming 10-15 minutes before class so we can help you check in on the iPad, show you around, and help you get settled.

We’ll Get You Oriented

A front desk staff member will greet you, show you where to put your belongings, and tour you through our lobby and studio. You’ll also meet your instructor before class.

Once you’ve done the quick tour, you can drop your personal items in any open cubby in the lobby. Remove your shoes + socks, and be sure to silence and tuck away your phone for after class :)

Your Yoga Space

Once inside our studio:

  • Quietly find an open spot in one of the three rows

  • Roll out your mat to line up with a dot on the floor (if it’s busy, we’re happy to help you with this!)

  • Feel free to grab any props you need (mat towel, block, straps, etc.)

  • Stretch, breathe, and relax until your class starts!

After class, please wipe down your mat and any props used so we keep our community space fresh and clean for everyone.

What to Wear & Bring

Comfortable Movement Clothing

Wear what helps you move freely — leggings, shorts, tanks, tees. Note the studio can reach temps of over 100° during some classes, so keep cool, moisture-wicking options in mind for your comfort!

Mat & Props

Bring a mat if you have one, but if not, we provide yoga mat and mat towel rentals, plus free props at the studio.

If you’re planning to shower in our locker room after class, we also provide shower towel rentals.

Hydration

Because many of our classes are warm or hot, we recommend bringing a water bottle and hydrating before and after class.

We sell various waters and hydration supplements in the lobby if you’re in need of an extra boost of hydration or forgot your water bottle!

Warm and Hot Classes

By default, all of our classes are taught in a warm or hot studio (between 90 - 103°). Other than the Deep Stretch/Yin class, we’ll let you know if any other class’s temperature is unheated ahead of time, so you always know what to expect!

Amenities

Our primary Kalamazoo location has:

  • Men’s and women’s bathrooms

  • Two showers in each bathroom

  • Community vanity setups + self-care amenities

  • Yoga mat, mat towel, and shower towel rentals

Perfect for early morning classes before work or midday sessions on the go.

Clean, Calm, Grounded

We take pride in keeping our studio a welcoming, intentional space where you can reset, breathe, and reconnect. In addition to UV sterilization, we clean the studio after each class and provide disinfectant wipes for yogis to wipe their area, mat, and props down!

Class Types

Class Recommendations for Beginners

Here are our best classes to start with if you’re new to Intentional Yoga:

  • Hot Yoga (moderate heat, foundational movement— great for all levels)

  • Power Yoga (strong, energizing flow — take at your own pace)

  • Sculpt (strength + yoga blend, upbeat and fun)

  • Slow Burn (slower pace, deeper holds, great for building stability)

Not sure which to choose? Try a few with our two-week all-access pass — each class style offers something different, and you’ll quickly discover your favorites.
