Everything You Need to Feel Ready for Your First Class at Intentional Yoga
Welcome to Intentional Yoga! We’re so glad you’ve found your way here. Whether you’re brand-new to yoga or returning to your mat to practice after time away, this page has everything you need to feel confident, comfortable, and excited for your first visit with us.
What to Expect for Your First Class
Arrive a Few Minutes Early
We recommend coming 10-15 minutes before class so we can help you check in on the iPad, show you around, and help you get settled.
We’ll Get You Oriented
A front desk staff member will greet you, show you where to put your belongings, and tour you through our lobby and studio. You’ll also meet your instructor before class.
Once you’ve done the quick tour, you can drop your personal items in any open cubby in the lobby. Remove your shoes + socks, and be sure to silence and tuck away your phone for after class :)
Your Yoga Space
Once inside our studio:
Quietly find an open spot in one of the three rows
Roll out your mat to line up with a dot on the floor (if it’s busy, we’re happy to help you with this!)
Feel free to grab any props you need (mat towel, a block, a bolster, straps, etc.)
Stretch, breathe, and relax until your class starts!
After class, please wipe down your mat and any props used so we keep our community space fresh and clean for everyone.
What to Wear & Bring
Comfortable Movement Clothing
Wear what helps you move freely — leggings, shorts, tanks, tees. Note the studio can reach temps of over 100° during some classes, so keep cool, moisture-wicking options in mind for your comfort!
Mat & Props
Bring a mat if you have one, but if not, we provide yoga mat and mat towel rentals, plus free props at the studio.
If you’re planning to shower in our locker room after class, we also provide shower towel rentals.
Hydration
Because many of our classes are warm or hot, we recommend bringing a water bottle and hydrating before and after class.
We sell various waters and hydration supplements in the lobby if you’re in need of an extra boost of hydration or forgot your water bottle!

Class Types

This is it— the core of our yoga world here at Intentional Yoga! This is truly where the healing begins! We take static poses to create focus and mix it with Vinyasa Flow for strength and flexibility.
Then, we add in some upbeat, motivating music and a little heat for your health. Now you’ve got the combination for a unique, uplifting, rejuvenating experience.
Class temperature: 103° F
-
This fun and lively class is designed to explore the body’s capacity for strength. This very popular yoga style requires a good working knowledge of the basic yoga poses. Classes may include more dynamic and complex postures that include arm balances, deeper back-bends, and inversions. However, Vinyasa is an art and classes will vary teacher to teacher.
Class temperature: 97° F

Fire up your core! The iY Hot Mat Pilates classes lead you through a well-balanced series of movements on your mat that will support your yoga practice. Pilates concentrates on strengthening the whole body through finding your connection to core and breath. Set to energizing music, this class is designed to lengthen and strengthen your spine, deepen your awareness of your body, and improve your balance. You are always encouraged to move at your own pace. Each class will guide you through a similar sequence with new movements integrated in that keeps this class fun and challenging!
Class temperature: 95° F
-
Take it up a notch! iY Sculpt classes add free weights to your practice for added resistance to intensify each pose and sculpt your major muscle groups. By using light weights, iY Sculpt offers a unique alternative to a traditional yoga class. Set to upbeat and energizing music, this class is designed for you to move through movements to develop a stable foundation of strength, flexibility and balance.
Class temperature: 95° F

Set your intention to create a balance between your yin (passive) and yang (active) practice in this all levels class. The first half of this class is designed to help you build strength and improve flexibility by guiding you through a breath inspired vinyasa flow. We then slow it down, preparing your body for the yin portion of the class. Here you will discover new openings as we work beneath the superficial muscles to the target the dense tissues of the body through long, slow, meditative holds. You will walk away from Fire & Ice feeling amazing, refreshed and ready to go!
Class temperature: 95° F
-
The Slow Flow class provides an opportunity to experience a practice that allows for a deeper connection between breath and movement within each posture. Postures are typically more grounding and the transitions are often simpler and slower than our Power Flow classes. If you’re looking to bring the pace down, while still finding healing through movement, this is the class for you.
Class temperature: 93° F
Class temperature: 95° F

This slower paced yet challenging practice will explore the balance between longer holds in static poses and heat building vinyasa flow.
Begin by building heat and connecting movement to breath with sun salutations and flow, and end with a yin style cool down and juicy stretch.
Class temperature: 95° F

Join us as we turn down the lights and let the deep, dynamic stretching of Yin Yoga take over.
With more emphasis on the deeper tissues in the body, Yin moves past the muscles and stimulates the joints and connective tissue, creating a body and mind opening that is unparalleled in any other type of activity. Yin Yoga is a slower-paced, more meditative version of the popular physical and spiritual discipline of yoga.
In Yin yoga, the poses are held for a long period of time (typically three to five minutes or longer) to target the connective tissues (such as the ligaments) rather than focusing on the muscles.
As a result, the asanas are more passive holds, with little muscular engagement.
